Cryptocurrency in Malta
On 7 December 2017, FinanceMalta organized event on blockchain technologies in Phoenecia Hotel. Speaker panel included professionals from marketing and gaming industry, the Big4 audit firm and entrepreneurs.
With bitcoin price reaching all-time high $7,500 and cryptocurrencies market capitalization approaching $200 billion, attention to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology is growing fast.
This event was earmarked by creation of the Blockchain Malta Association - a non-profit organization aiming to promote development of the blockchain technology in Malta. The Association, with participation and input from its members, will be working closely with the government institutions to develop healthy regulatory framework for integration of cryptocurrencies and blockchain innovations in Malta.
Blockchain Malta Association is a second professional association in Malta "crypto" industry. Bitmalta association was established in July 2017, "to advocate cryptocurrencies and the Blockchain technology". Bitcoin Club Malta is a group of enthusiasts whose goal is to "make Malta A Bitcoin Island".
